SUMMARY
Nigeria’s Premier University (University of Ibadan), and her Medical School, will be marking the 70th anniversary in the month of November 2018. The year 1948 saw the beginning of the Ibadan Medical School which started as one of the foundation Faculties of the University. The three Faculties at inception were Arts, Science, and Medicine. Professor Beatrice Mary Joly of the Department of Surgery was appointed as the first Professor of the University. She was also the first Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, later to become a College and presently headed by the Provost, Professor E.O. Olapade-Olaopa. This is a brief exposition on the Ibadan medical school through the years, and a pictorial tribute to the Deans and Provosts.
